Finally got the site back up, the problem was with the PayPal subscription service I was using to pay the hosts each month so I will be doing it manually in future. Now I am back up though, what has been happening since last I posted?

Firstly, I have been passed a number of sequential pages for a comic named ‘Baby Boomers’ published by Markosia to try my hand at and so far I’m about to deliver my 4th completed page. These pages will firstly be put up onto the Markosia site as a web comic and once the entire run is completed may be collected into a trade. It is really good experience and the art is being handled by the fabulous Chad Cicconi so it’s a pleasure to do.

I then whipped up some pitches to send to a publisher called Insomnia Publications who have a new Creative Director (Nic Wilkinson) and were due to be at the upcoming Birmingham International Comic Show (B.I.C.S). One of the pitches sent was the new idea that I hinted at in the post previous.

Three days before I was due to go to Birmingham I injured some knee ligaments playing football after work and as such was laid up on the settee unable to do anything on the computer for the next couple of days. The weekend arrived and I was able to walk again despite not being very fast or good at going up steps so I made it to the con.

The con itself was excellent, I met and chatted to LOADS of people; Jimmy Bott (Half Dead), Terry Martin (Murky Depths), Barry Nugent and Dave Monteith (Geek Syndicate), Amy Liff (Birds of Geek), Iz McAuliffe and Stacey Frost (Comic Racks), Richard McAuliffe (Baby Boomers), Liam Sharpe (MamTor), Kev Crosley (MamTor), Karl Byrne (Science Friction), David Hitchcock (Black Boar Press) and also the guys over at the Insomnia Publications stand.

Nic and Crawford took me behind the table, we talked back, and forward about the two pitches I sent them, in particular the one titled ‘Shiver‘, which they seemed to really like. We agreed that I would work on the specifics of plot and character and then once I had more details to show them we will speak again.

After I got back from the con, I got an E-Mail re-iterating their interest and mentioning that they have some artists in mind that they think would be good for it. If it hadn’t hit home already it did then, the REALLY liked it!

Now unless I mess up these next stages of drawing up detailed character notes and story notes it looks as though Insomnia will be publishing me. *fingers crossed*

The two panels that stood out were the Geek Syndicate panel and the ‘Science of Superheroes’ with Almost-Doctor Karl. I got a few sketches, which I will be posting here including one of me as a Zombie by Charlie Adlard of ‘Walking Dead’ / ‘Codeflesh’ fame. I also took a few pictures with some of the cosplayers (including a really hot Lara Croft) from Brotherhood of the Bat.

I was looked after at the show by Iz McAuliffe (Comic Racks) and generously given a lift home by Amy Liff (Birds of Geek) and her fella Ryan who just happen to be local to Derby.
On Monday I was still in La-la land, I got nothing done and so Tuesday was my back to reality day, as such I’m a few days behind on my Baby Boomers colours but I’m confident I can make up the deficit.

Then on Tuesday I received a parcel with five comp copies of ‘From Here to There’ from Scott and Brian over at Resolution Comics, this comic includes an eight page short by me and should be on sale soon.

To top it all off, today I was contacted by Scott and offered some colour work for their next project ‘The Layfield Project’, timetables permitting I should be able to oblige.

Like I said at the beginning of this thing… I’m too busy to type out this post.
