More Colours Finished – Spiderman Love MJ by JonBoy Meyers

9th June, 2010 - Posted by Chris

Here’s one of the pieces I have been colouring between writing as part of my thing a day. Saturday may suffer thing-a-day wise but I will be at Alt.fiction with loads of cool people so I think it’s justified. :)

Aaaaand it’s finished.
Liam Sharp has kindly given me permission to post my attempt at colouring one of his Gears of War pages.

Gears of War – Page11 – Issue3 by ~ukfaithless on deviantART

I’m sort of okay with how it came out, may have overcooked it as I was aiming for a mor subtle look but I’ll just have to do better next time.

I’ve purposefully not looked at the original issue whilst colouring but may dig it out again to take a look and compare how it should be done.

I have a long weekend now (not back at work till Wednesday so hopefully my thingaday will be come afewthingsaday. :)

Cheers,
Chris

New Year, Time to Knuckle Down!

4th January, 2009 - Posted by Chris

Happy New Year everyone, hope every one had a good Christmas/New Year.

Mine went well, a bit of illness and I’ve spent FAR too much money but now it’s time to get down to business.
I don’t make New Years Resolutions usually, but this year I am resolved to set out my targets and achieve them, chief among them is that I am resolved to make some serious headway on scripting ‘Shiver’.

I have a url registered for it now, the contract will be along shortly.

Along with this I need to write more short scripts and submit them to the various anthologies doing the rounds.

Here’s to 2009 and all it will bring. :)

Cheers,
Chris

Mo’ Info

31st July, 2008 - Posted by Chris

One of the other reasons for the change to ComicPress is that I am participating in a ‘Drawing Words & Writing Pictures’ Nomad Groups over at ‘The Comic Forums’ which is basically a group of comic creators (wether they be writers or artists) working their way through this book called ‘Drawing Words and Writing Pictures’.

The book is like a textbook / syllabus for comic creation and it will involve me drawing scripts as exercises then discussing and critiquing with the rest of the group.
I have no art skills to speak of so the comics above may turn out to be horrendous but the point of the Nomad Group is to get better and more creative. Maybe I’ll find a creative way around my lack of art skills… maybe not. Hopefully it’ll help me in a bunch of other ways too though.

*fingers crossed*

I have once again torn chunks from the Comic script that I am focusing on at present, needed to get the first 5 pages to be a nice contained action packed chunk as I may send it as a pitch to Shadowline. I think I have those pages working well now and I have begun re-planning the the rest of the action to fit in three separate 22page issues.

I also have a prose story I need to finish for the Derby Scribes Isolation competition as well as another one I need to start for the GeekSyndicate writing competition over at ‘The Comic Forums’.

It’s going to be a busy month and then NaNoWriMo is looming large again in a few months too, I need to try and avoid the XBox… my arch nemesis!!!

Cheers,
Chris

Moving on along!

29th July, 2008 - Posted by Chris

Yes it is a new site, I’m now running on ComicPress (Wordpress) in anticipation of a few projects I hope to get finished and posted up here soon.

I was only using CuteNews before as I didn’t want spam but the past few weeks I was recieving a horendous amount of spam comments so it was time for a change.

I finally managed to get in touch with Terry from Murky Depths, seems as though it was my domain E-Mail that was causing the problems.
Marc is going to be drawing ‘Pilgrimage’ this coming month and once it’s done I’ll be submitting it to Terry so look out for news on that.

I have managed to get an old project of mine dusted off too and have edited and re-written it to an inch of it’s life.
I can’t believe how many pages and panels I used to use to write stories but at the moment I think it’s working… just need to write the climax to the story and that too will hopefully be something that Marc will provide art on, I think his dark style will suit it perfectly.

The stuff for Resolution Comics seems to be coming along, and should all be finished next month, my artist just has a few pages left to do.
Marc has finished his and you can see samples across at his blog.

Cheers,
Chris
